One ingredient, zero added sugar – and the snack is gone. Oven-baked apple chips, tried and tested in daycare, suitable for ages 2+ (placing the apple rings and sprinkling the cinnamon are perfect jobs for little helpers).
• 2–3 apples
• Baking tray with parchment paper
• A pinch of cinnamon (optional)
Cut the rings (adult): Slice the apples into 2–3 mm thin rings. Leave the cores in – they create a pretty flower pattern.
Let the child help: Place the rings like little wheels on the baking tray and sprinkle with cinnamon.
Into the oven: Bake at 90°C (194°F) fan-assisted for 2–3 hours, leaving the oven door slightly open (wooden spoon trick). Turn the apple rings halfway through.
Daycare tip: Store them in an airtight container for up to one week – if they actually last that long.
